Red State - A New Kevin Smith Film

Red State is the upcoming horror film by Kevin Smith.  Kevin Smith is the writer and director of classics such as Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and Dogma.  This new film, though, has a twist.

Red State is a horror movie.  It is not filled to the brim with dick & fart jokes and pot humor.  Red State is reported to not look like a Kevin Smith film--a sentiment that Smith himself touts with pride.  Red State is also not a political movie.  When the title was announced some vituperation from the political right came to bear, but previews and discussion of the film have revealed that it is certainly a horror film more than anything else, even when the internet seems to say otherwise.

Another twist on Red State is the way the film is being marketed.  Typically, a $10 million dollar film will cost another $5-10 million in its budget for marketing.  It's a typical Hollywood studio strategy.  You make a movie, then advertise the hell out of it to try and grab a wide audience.  Kevin Smith is taking a different route.

April Fools Prizes & Fun

Now, I don’t expect that anyone besides the 3 people who have access to this blog actually read it. Heaven’s no. But, in the off chance that a stray electron on the internet accidentally sends you here, let me tell you what we’re giving away tonight. And what buffoonery you might expect.

First off: TWO (2) pair of 2-day passes (That’s 8 days of passes! Sort of!) to workshops at the Cosmic Connections Convention courtesy of the National Enquirer columnist & astrologist Maria Shaw. That’s April 9th through the 11th. But you already knew that. because you’re psychic... or are you?

Secondly, I for one, plan on giving you false news and information tonight, because it’s April Fools, but also because I’m a pathological liar... or am I?

A little taste of things to come...

Hola,
Gonna play part of my interview with The Sound of Young America host Jesse Thorn for you tonight on Happy Hour. I've also been inspired with quite a few ideas over the past week since it took place. I'm looking forward to sharing some of those with you in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, check out what I consider the best 30 seconds of the interview. Here's a link for those who aren't "podcatching" the feed via Feedburner:

Gary Coleman, Mice, Pets, and Groin Areas

Ahoy there!
Gonna be a good show tonight, I can feel it! Expect a guest appearance by my roommate Noah, and hard-hitting news about Gary Coleman, sex, & valentine's. Also, fascinating and scintillating products such as the vagina shaped mouse, and poo hole covers for your pets!

Meanwhile, here's a wonderful clip from last week's show, in which we discover we are NOT a program dedicated to automotive advice, but we possibly may be responsible for much of the vehicular manslaughter in the Lansing metropolitain area (between 7-8 on Thursday nights, at least). Also note, manslaughter is a terrible thing, but mans laughter is a good thing.
