The Greatest New Years Resolution Of 2011

I was cruising around the Internet looking for the best New Years resolutions. I found the pretty typical answers, like the top ten here at 2011resolutions.org, that include the typical lose weight, exercise, quit smoking business. Allow me to tell you what your NEW New Years resolution is:

MORE HIGH FIVES.

Be cool, and give more high fives. It's so simple but awesome. If you're crazy awesome (I doubt it, I'm not), maybe you'll try the one additional high five every day of the year so by the end you give 365 high fives a day!

Twas The Night Before Christmas: Happy Hour Edition

Twas the night before Christmas,
And all through East Lansing,
All the students went back home,
Few drunk sluts were dancing.

But cool guys like Jon’s,
And Ed’s and ABs,
Still planned to go out,
To the Riv and to Crunchy’s.

"Never Trust A Man Who Doesn't Hunt" - Teddy Roosevelt

Jon could be described by some as a bit of a city boy. At the same time, he is self-described as a person who wants to do everything. Self-described, because I'm the one writing this post.

For the first time, I joined the camo and blaze orange covered hunters this fall and was determined to get myself the BIGGEST BUCK YOU'VE EVER SEEN... or a small buck... or a doe. No such luck thus far. I've spent more than 20 hours hunting over 3 separate days and have only even seen 3 doe.

I've sat and waited and waited and drank pots of coffee and haven't had a good shot at a thing. I'm a bit deterred. What is it that makes people want to do this year after year? Does the feeling change once you get that first one? It must. Right?

Two things:
1) Any tips for me getting this first monster huge buck of my life?
2) For the non-hunters, what is the weirdest thing you have waited ENTIRELY too long for that is like this?

Portland Has Beer.

I was on a trip to Portland, OR this week on biznass. So I drank some beer! Here's the scoop on the sampling I did:

1 - Hopworks Urban - 12 Beers - All organic, 2 casks, pretty good solid options

2 - Hair Of The Dog - 6 Beers - All good, "Greg" was a no hops w/ squash, good barleywine

3 - Deschuttes - 7 Beers - Decent selection, decent XPA and gluten free. Split across 2 visits.

4 - Tug Boat - 6 Beers - Wasn't on my list, decent bock, good atmosphere, only ok overall

5 - Rogue - 9 Beers - Good hazelnut ale, chocolate stout = hershey bar, more than i could taste alone, nice waitress brought me a free sample of red and a portland beer map

Stats: 3 Days, 5 Breweries, 40 beers
