The United States Of Shame: Thanks For All Of The Cocaine, Colorado; Porno, Utah

The lovely website pleated-jeans.com has made it aware to me that the United States is participating in an enormous game of Would You Rather. Would You Rather: State Edition, soon to hit your block party, consists of analyzing this great map below and deciding as a Michigander if you're happy being worst due to the high unemployment or if maybe you'd like to switch with another state. At least we aren't tops at alcoholism or gonorrhea, right...?

Which one below do you think is the absolute worst?

"Never Trust A Man Who Doesn't Hunt" - Teddy Roosevelt

Jon could be described by some as a bit of a city boy. At the same time, he is self-described as a person who wants to do everything. Self-described, because I'm the one writing this post.

For the first time, I joined the camo and blaze orange covered hunters this fall and was determined to get myself the BIGGEST BUCK YOU'VE EVER SEEN... or a small buck... or a doe. No such luck thus far. I've spent more than 20 hours hunting over 3 separate days and have only even seen 3 doe.

I've sat and waited and waited and drank pots of coffee and haven't had a good shot at a thing. I'm a bit deterred. What is it that makes people want to do this year after year? Does the feeling change once you get that first one? It must. Right?

Two things:
1) Any tips for me getting this first monster huge buck of my life?
2) For the non-hunters, what is the weirdest thing you have waited ENTIRELY too long for that is like this?

I Hate Politics

I'm pretty much done with politics.  Democrats, you're going to have to figure this one out on your own.  I guess I let the idiots win on this one, but I just can't take it anymore.

The problem: Illegal immigrants are coming over the border to blah blah blah

A failed solution: Build a fence across the entire border between the U.S. and Mexico.

The actual new hard line immigration stance for the campaign of Tea Party congressional candidate Jesse Kelly is to

...wait for it...

American Knowledge

A week or so ago a poll came out showing that one in five Americans think President Obama is a Muslim.

Less than half could correctly identify him as a Christian.

One explanation for this is emotions were running high as the "Ground Zero Mosque" hubbub was going on and is fueled by a lot of political right wing fear, and that's sad.

However, there's a sadder explanation.

A survey from 1999 shows that one in five Americans think the Sun revolves around the Earth.

20% of people ten-ish years ago didn't know something we've known since the 1500's.

Also, 66% of people ages 18-29 knew America won it's freedom from England. Other answers included France, Russia, China, and Mexico.

So my friends, don't blame the right wing (although it can be fun) or the left wing (sometimes crazier than funny), but blame ourselves. Maybe we're just not very good at paying atten...LOOK A FUNNY TURTLE!!11!!1
