This makes a great point! People need to step outside their comfort zones and try new things, the worst that can happen is you fail, but at least you can take something away from that.
I remember when I was in 6th grade I almost played the saxophone because the band director said percussion was hard, and you had to pass a special test. I was seriously going to play the saxophone. A WOODWIND! I think my parents told me to try out anyway, because I really wanted to be a drummer, and years later, in 16th grade, I was the first guy in the drumline out on the field at the Rose Bowl because I was the section leader of the U of M drumline.
There's so many things I STILL don't do because they're "hard." That is some bullshit, dward.
[I tried to change some terms in dward's post to fit my life and circumstance but I couldn't recall a time when I persevered against my own or someone else's imposed adversity. As it stands, I've always given up on myself, because for me, the hard part is the success.]

[but I have a babby. and that's pretty hard sometimes. so not all is lost, I have made SOMEthing of myself!]
oh but I want to say that a few nights ago I was visited in a dream by Mark Wahlberg wherein he encouraged me to move forward.. "what is the worst that could happen" he said.
don't want to steal the thunderous importance of the point here, there're a lot of people who could benefit from seeing this image. but i do have to say that an ex-girlfriend of mine was at a marky mark and the funky bunch concert once and got invited up to his room. he answered the door and asked if she and her friend wanted to join him for a towel party. apparently, a towel party is when you all wear towels and party. she said no thanks. also marky mark was short. well i'm a virgin, but me and that girl once had relations outdoors in northern michigan in the middle of a park and during a 'pivotal moment,' she saw a shooting star. a big bright shining star. suck that, marky mark. while you're swimming in your pool filled with hundred dollar bills.
